I'm new here!

What should I expect?   At Grace Baptist Church you will find inside a vibrant, loving group of people. We are a group of people from different places, of different ages, with different incomes and levels of education.  Some members have been Christians for decades, others are new believers, and some who attend are not Christians but are interested in learning more about Jesus.

What should I wear?   You will find a wide variety of clothing being worn at GBC on any given Sunday. Some will wear jeans or khaki pants, others will wear suits and ties.  We try to honor God in all that we do, including what we wear, but this is different for different people. Do not let clothing hinder you from joining us in worship.

Where should I go?  The best place to park if you have young children is the back parking lot, because our nursery and young children's Sunday School classes are located on the first floor of the educational building.  We will have information tables set up at both entrances of the church with people who will be happy to point you in the right direction.

What is Sunday School like?  Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. and will end at 10:45.  We cover a whole variety of topics in our adult Sunday School classes. You can find out what we are currently studying on our Sunday School section of the website.  Whatever the topic, expect challenging content, practical application, and good discussion.  We have designed our Sunday School classes so that those who are new to Christianity will be able to understand and so that those who are seasoned believers will still be challenged.  Feel free to speak up or sit back and listen.

What about my young children? We have a nursery for children up to age 4.  Someone will be glad to direct you to the nursery whenever you first arrive. There you will be able to check your child in to the nursery, notify our nursery workers of any special instructions concerning your child, such as any allergies he or she might have. Our nursery is more than just a baby-sitting service.  Even in the nursery we have faithful volunteers who will teach your toddlers the great truths of the Bible, and who will pray for your infants.
You will also be directed to the appropriate class for your children.  Children's classes normally involve a short activity, along with Bible Stories and scripture memory.  Youth (grades 7-12) are currently attending any of our adult Sunday School classes.  We believe that they will benefit greatly from the content of these classes as well as being able to glean much wisdom from the adults in the church.  Our youth love to participate in discussion, ask questions, and sometimes even stump the Sunday School teachers!

Sunday Morning Worship: As Sunday School dismisses, the sanctuary will begin to fill. There will be worship guides on the table in the foyer near the front door that will include the lyrics to the songs we will be singing that day. Don’t worry if you forget to grab one before you are seated, one of our deacons will be passing some out as well. Feel free to sit anywhere you like, there is not a bad seat in the house.
We will begin the worship service with a prayer led by one of our pastors.  Don’t worry, we won’t ask you to stand up or raise your hand if you are a visitor. The last thing we want to do is embarrass you. All you will be asked to do is fill out a visitor card that you can put in the offering plate later in the service. By the way, if you are a visitor, we do not expect you to give us your money. We are just glad you are chose to join us.
After a brief time of fellowship, we will have a time of public scripture reading. Then, we will have a time of worship through singing.  We love to sing songs, both new and old, that are gospel-saturated and God-centered. Our worship minister will lead the songs by piano, accompanied by drums, other instruments, along with a three or four member worship team.
The preaching is the highlight of the day. We believe that God’s word is exciting, practical, true, and profitable for our everyday life. That is why our pastor normally preaches verse by verse through books of the Bible, so that we don’t miss anything that God has said to us. After the sermon, we will have another time of singing so that we can respond in thanksgiving and worship to God, followed by a time when we give our tithes and offerings, and finally a time of announcements. After the service, it is not uncommon for many of us to stay afterwards talking and discussing, and sharing our lives together.

I’m not a Christian/I have doubts/I don’t know a lot about the Bible, am I still welcome?  Of course! Anyone is welcome to join us. You can feel free to join us to see what Christians do and what Christians believe.  We won't judge you or look down on you. We would be happy to answer any questions that you have.
